Apparently, Pong Beer exists

February 17, 2012 · Posted By: Pippa Gage

It’s estimated that more than 50 percent of college students have played beer pong at any given time. That’s a pretty big number. So it’s no wonder beer companies are looking to find a niche in that environment.

College students know there are a few beers that you can use to play (they typically have the word “light” in the name), but there wasn’t a set beer pong beer. Until now.

Introducing “Pong Beer.”

The company behind this new beer estimates that beer pong-related products, namely the beer used to play, have raked in $20 million in sales.

Pong Beer’s principal distinction is the “Rack Pack,” a 30-pack of beer that comes with two ping-pong balls for the “low, low price of free,” says Nick Rallo at The Dallas Observer. Two 30-packs gets you a “Reload,” a convenient package of 16-ounce cups and four ping-pong balls. So instead of running around to every isle in the grocery store, you get everything you need in one convenient pack.

The 30 pack costs about $18, which is a little pricier than the unofficial king of beer pong beers, Keystone Light. But with the accessories, it could be worth it. Pong Beer is available in 10 states, with more on the way.

While there have been some attempts at commercializing beer pong in the last few years, such as regulation beer pong tables in sporting goods stores, the gimmicky nature of Pong Beer might not win over customers.

BattleShots is poised to take over the drinking game throne anyway.
