UCLA Dance Marathon raises record amount for pediatric AIDS research

UCLA's 11th annual Dance Marathon this weekend and raised a record-breaking total of $451,144.03, surpassing last year’s by more than $40,000. A total of 837 participants danced for 26 hours straight.

Penn State kicked off THON yesterday, a 46 hour marathon of non-stop dancing with no sleeping or sitting allowed. The participants are trying to raise money to end childhood cancer.

“Simpsons” creator donates $500,000 to UCLA to mark milestone

Twelve-time Emmy winner, Matt Groening, has donated $500,000 to UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television. The money will create the Matt Groening Chair in Animation, which will fund visiting artists, the Los Angeles Times reports.
